Esto se debe a que suele coincidir con el periodo de entrenamiento espec\u00edfico de las maratones de primavera o se est\u00e1 inmerso en plena temporada de cross.<\/p>\n<p><strong>En las preparaciones de mis maratones, en ciertas ocasiones, decid\u00ed hacer esta preparaci\u00f3n en altitud.<\/strong> <strong>Para esto me desplazaba a pa\u00edses donde era posible trabajar en altura<\/strong> como Kenia, Bolivia y en algunas ocasiones en lugares de Espa\u00f1a con una altitud moderada como Soria, Segovia o Teruel.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>El entrenamiento en altura tiene sus ventajas y sus inconvenientes<\/strong>. Ventajas conocidas por todo el mundo son el <strong>beneficio del aumento del hematocrito<\/strong> que sufre el cuerpo por el hecho de entrenar con hipoxia, falta de ox\u00edgeno.\u00a0Otros beneficios es el <strong>vivir continuamente durante m\u00e1s de 21d\u00edas en altura<\/strong>, es decir, no s\u00f3lo se sube el momento de entrenar sino que se VIVE en altitud. Esto, adem\u00e1s de entrenar, te permite conocer la regi\u00f3n en cuesti\u00f3n, conocer sus gentes y otros m\u00e9todos de entrenamiento.<\/p>\n<p>Inconvenientes principales son la lejan\u00eda de estos pa\u00edses, inseguridad, deficiente higiene gastron\u00f3mica, alto coste\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Recuerdo con cari\u00f1o\u00a0mi estancia en <a style=\"color: inherit;\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eldoret\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Eldoret<\/u><\/a>, localidad del altiplano keniata, momento de mi vida que nunca olvidar\u00e9. Mi sponsor de aquellos a\u00f1os era la marca deportiva Italiana FILA. Una condici\u00f3n contractual inclu\u00eda un stage anual en Kenia. S\u00f3lo tengo palabras de agradecimiento hacia Fila por acceder a todas mis exigencias y darme la oportunidad de vivir tal experiencia.<\/p>\n<p>Eldoret es una peque\u00f1a localidad que tiene el r\u00e9cord de mayor n\u00famero de ol\u00edmpicos, mundialistas y r\u00e9cords de mundo, sobre todo en pruebas de larga distancia. Me vienen a la cabeza nombres como <a style=\"color: inherit;\" title=\"Moses Tanui\" href=\"http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Moses_Tanui\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Moses Tanui<\/span><\/a>, <a style=\"color: inherit;\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Billy_Konchellah\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Billy Konchellah<\/span><\/a>, <a style=\"color: inherit;\" href=\"http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stephen_Kiprotich\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Kiprotich<\/span><\/a>, Paul Kiptanui, etc. Con ellos tuve la suerte de coincidir y compartir ratos\u00a0juntos.<\/p>\n<p>El entrenamiento en altura tiene su peligro. <strong>Durante los primeros d\u00edas no se puede entrenar fuerte, es necesario realizar una adaptaci\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Considerando que el atletismo en Kenia es una forma de salir de la pobreza,\u00a0muchos\u00a0de sus habitantes apuestan por este deporte. Me bastaron tres d\u00edas all\u00ed para entender el por qu\u00e9 este pa\u00eds es la primera potencia mundial en este deporte. De 10 que lleguen a ser estrellas mundialistas, seguramente habr\u00e1 miles, cientos de miles que se quedan por el camino intentando emular a sus \u00eddolos como Paul Tergat o Moses Tanui.<\/p>\n<p>En la segunda semana de stage, <strong>adaptado ya a la altitud, en los rodajes de 10, 12 o 14 kms por caminos de tierra roja, sent\u00ed impotencia cuando se me juntaban ni\u00f1os de 10 \u00f3 12 a\u00f1os y me aguantaban m\u00e1s de la mitad de mi entrenamiento.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kenia no te deja indiferente, all\u00ed era un Musungu (hombre blanco) pero nunca me sent\u00ed fuera de lugar.
